Switzerland 1994

I participated in a meeting in Geneva in April 1994 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jurine discovering that bats used their ears to orientate. Afterwards I went to the Valais Alps with Raphael Arlettaz.

Echolocation in bats was discovered over 50 years previously by Donald Griffin (below) with Robert Galambos, who was also present at the Geneva meeting. Galambos showed amazing film of their experiments, and displayed pages from his lab notebooks at the time.
