Bonaparte's gull |
|
This Bonaparte's gull was photographed at Frome on 19 March. It was small alongside the black-headed gulls.
It had short, pinkish legs, and a long, fine dark bill. The nape and sides of the neck were smudged with grey, and the mantle seemed darker than that of the black-headed gulls in most lighting situations. The tertials contained a lot of black.
